When I was around 10, our school took a field trip to a slaughterhouse where we witnessed all aspects of how animals are turned into food, including the actual killing.
I think all meat eaters should become familiar with the process, just like those who watched an interview with Sarah Palin on live television around Thanksgiving time in 2008.
She and her running mate, John McCain had just lost their election and Palin was back up in her home state of Alaska for the Holidays.
Sarah thought she’d do something lighthearted after the brutal campaign so she decided to go out to a turkey farm and pardon one of their turkeys. She picked the spot for the interview.
The cameras started rolling and Palin started saying a bunch of feel good stuff, which was fine and dandy.
But immediately our eyes went to the background where this dude was stuffing a giant live turkey into this meat processing machine while the poor bird was fighting for its life.
The guy kept looking at the camera and must have been thinking to himself, “are you sure you want this on live TV?”
It was as though Sarah Palin had just taken an IQ test the day before and the results came back negative.
