Some could say that I have a bias toward negativity and to be honest, that characterization is difficult to dispute. I haven't gone back and looked, but think many of my blogs so far have demonstrated this semi-dystopian tendency.
So here's something a bit different to start the week....
One of my favorite things to do is to watch people of all walks of life singing and/or playing their music on YouTube. So this morning I came across a young man by the name of Sparsh Shah, a 19 year old prodigy who writes all of his own music and has performed it all over the world in front of hundreds of thousands of people in places like Madison Square Garden and Radio City Music Hall. He's also an inspirational speaker, a philanthropist, and a Guinness World Record Holder.
One more thing - Shah was born with a rare genetic disorder called Osteogenesis Imperfecta, an incurable disease that causes his bones to be extremely fragile and brittle. He's had more than 140 fractures, multiple surgeries, and sports dozens of rods and screws in his little body that help hold it together. He's never walked and never will.
Yet this man radiates positivity with his eloquence, his upbeat attitude, his beautiful smile, and his intelligence. He recently came up with a near perfect score on his S.A.T. test.
So the next time you get frustrated with something you think you can't do, like Sparsh Shah, think of something you can do and go for it.
