The shitshow in Washington continues with the Republicans unable to elect a Speaker of the House on their first day in session. This hasn't happened for a hundred years in our country. Aside from an intense feeling of schadenfreude because the party is actively engaged in digging their own graves....and I know this is a dubious attribute....I'm saddened by the demise of our democracy and the intense divide that seems to be getting worse. No longer are most politicians interested in making good laws that benefit the majority, they're now more obsessed with making headlines and getting on TV, saying whatever they have to say whether it's true or not, in an effort to pave their way to fame and fortune by trashing the institutions that have been an integral part of our democracy since its founding.

This latest pathetic circus illustrates our devolution as human beings as our principles are eroded, and the hogs at the trough get fatter.
