I’ve been interested in politics, public policy, and human behavior for many years, and perhaps because of that and my family history, I have a bias toward negativity. Let’s face it, the news oftentimes isn’t terribly uplifting so it comes down to attitude. It takes work to stay in a good mood.
So why do I indulge myself to the degree that I do? Because I can’t help it. I’m fascinated with how we govern ourselves around the world and the myriad of components that are a part of that process.
I laid out many of my thoughts on seemingly everything in my book, “Pig Surgery….”, and they continue here. This daily exercise of delving into a topic forces me to consider all sides of a question and therefore keeps my mind active, I think….
Which reminds me of my late friend Dick who had a hand written sign outside his miners camp up at Lake Tahoe - “Will Think For Food”.
So the fun part of all of this comes in recognizing absurdities such as the news from Japan during the height of the COVID epidemic where roller coaster operators discouraged screaming on their rides to help prevent the spread of the disease, and implored them to instead, “please scream inside your heart”.
