It’s no secret that I have been angry at Donald Trump and his supporters for a number of reasons since he became president, and still am to some degree, but the sentiment is turning more and more toward sadness as I watch him continue to shatter norms that have been building since the founding of our Nation.
His staying power defies convention in that a vast swath of Americans still support bringing him back as our President despite his having been impeached twice, having been accused by at least 18 women for sexual assault and found liable in a court of law for attacking one of them, being under investigation for instigating the largest invasion of our Capital since 1812 while trying to overturn a free and fair election, and being under investigation for removing top secret documents and then trying to cover up the theft. The list goes on....
Trump showed no humility or remorse for any of it during his Town Hall appearance earlier this week, but rather continued his campaign of vengeance toward those he feels have wronged him. His hand picked audience laughed as he demeaned the female moderator along with one of his his assault victims.
Yes, I’m terribly sad that there are millions of people out there who seem to be so discontent that they are living their lives vicariously through a broken man who is eager to burn down the house, merely out of spite.
