Anyone who is about my age has lived through a number of historical developments.
These events include the Cold War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, the JFK Assassination, the First Moon Landing, the passing of the Civil Rights Act, the Vietnam War, the Invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan, the Terrorist Attacks on 9/11, the Trump Presidency, the Pandemic, and perhaps most notably, the beginnings of the dire impact of Climate Change on our planet.
Another crisis occurred on Tuesday.
For the first time in American history, Republicans in the House of Representatives voted to fire their Speaker.
I've often fretted about how fragile our system of government is and now we're about to find out just how broken things are.
All it took was one person to begin the process of tearing down of our institutions, and we all know who that man is.
Let's hope he's held accountable and that our system holds.
