Although they know very well that Donald Trump is probably guilty of the crimes he is charged with, in an effort to hang on to low information voters who they depend on for political survival, here’s what some politicians had to say:
Rep. Clay Higgins: “Buckle up. 1/50K know your bridges. Rock steady calm.” (this is military terminology for “get ready to fight.”
Rep. Andy Biggs: “We have now reached a war phase. Eye for an eye.”
Presidential candidate, Vivek Ramaswami: “I commit to pardon Trump promptly on January 20, 2025 and to restore the rule of law in our country.”
The number 2 House Republican, Steve Scalise: “Joe Biden is weaponizing his Department of Justice against his own political rival” (Biden had nothing to do with the decision).
The Speaker of the House, Kevin McCarthy: “I, and every American who believes in the rule of law, stand with President Trump against this grave injustice.”
Each of these folks had the opportunity to rise above their own self interests, and support our Justice System, but didn’t.
Their moral compasses failed them.
