The ultra-conservative 5th circuit court ruled recently that just because a guy has beaten his wife or girlfriend, or any other family member for that matter, that shouldn't prevent him from owning a gun - even if that person is under a restraining order. These deranged judges claimed that because the framers of the constitution didn't prevent wife beaters from owning guns, than we shouldn't either. Keep in mind that it wasn't until 1871 that courts ruled that a husband has no right to beat his wife.
This dangerous decision will undoubtedly lead to the slaughter of even more wives and girlfriends since domestic abusers are more prone to commit violent acts of gun violence than your average man.
I wonder that if the daughter of one of these judges were shot to death by her estranged husband, if the opinion might have been different.
