Women have been exploited, oppressed, persecuted, enslaved, denied education, denied work opportunities, denied equal compensation, and generally treated as second class citizens throughout time.
They still are.
Sure, things have improved beginning with the passing of the 19th Amendment and then continuing on through the #MeToo Movement, as well as the election of a record number of women to office in later years.
But then they were set back decades with the passing of Dobbs and its aftermath, most vividly on display in South Carolina where the only all-male State Supreme Court in the country recently upheld an abortion ban after 6 weeks of pregnancy.
It’s about time that we insist on full gender equality in both the public and private sectors and once and for all cast the archaic biblical admonition of the subjugation of women into the trashcan of history.
