Embarrassing things can occur at the most inopportune moments, like when Andrew Jackson’s pet parrot let go with a string of curse words at the former president’s funeral. It’s not apparent exactly what was said, but by all accounts it wasn’t very nice.
Jackson was our country’s 7th Commander in Chief who died 170 years ago at the age of 78.
Given Jackson’s immense popularity at the time, a large contingent of 3,000 mourners gathered at his home to pay their respects on June 18, 1845. During the eulogy, friends of the deceased squirmed in their seats as the bird screamed vulgarities until officials finally had to remove the foul mouth fowl.
Perhaps the parrot was pissed that his owner left him and wanted to make its feelings known, or maybe it was merely jealous that his former keeper was getting all the attention.
Either way, it's probably not a good idea to teach your pet to swear.
