By all accounts, Taylor Taranto was a troubled man who lived in his van, was enamored with firearms, who subscribed to numerous conspiracy theories, and who made repeated threats against public officials.
So it was only natural that when Donald Trump posted Barack Obama’s Washington address on his Truth Social Network recently that someone like Taranto would be interested.
In fact he certainly was.
Taranto not only posted this on Telegram, "'We got these losers surrounded! See you in hell, Podesta's and Obama’s” (sic), he also re-posted Trump's message with Obama’s address on his own Truth Social page.
Then he went hunting.
Taranto was apprehended by the Secret Service in Obama’s neighborhood while live-streaming ways in which he could gain entrance into the home, including through the sewer gates. Authorities found several guns and multiple rounds of ammunition in Taranto's possession.
Prosecutors had been looking for him in connection with his involvement in the January 6th insurrection.
The question is this: why would Trump publish the home address of a chief rival?
There’s only one logical reason.
